How do I apply the blood pressure monitor?
Step 1: Select correct arm
Before using the 24-hour blood pressure monitor, it is important that you attach it to the correct arm. Your doctor has indicated which arm you should wear the blood pressure monitor on. This instruction is listed on your diary. Usually this is your non-dominant arm, or the arm you use the least.
Step 2: Placing the blood pressure monitor
Immediately after starting the recorder, place the recorder with the connector input facing down into the blue disposable bag.
Place the blood pressure monitor around your upper arm. A blue cloth washable band is attached to the inside of the blood pressure monitor with Velcro (for hygiene purposes). Pass your arm through the cloth washable blue band. You should place the blood pressure monitor 2 to 3 cm above your elbow.
- When worn on the left arm, place the blood pressure monitor with the "white range strip on the band" on the bottom (toward the elbow).
- When wearing the blood pressure monitor on the right arm, place the blood pressure monitor with the "white range strip on the band" on the top (toward the shoulder).
Note
For both the left arm, and the right arm, it is important that the sign on the blue band, is placed on the inside of your arm. The device then sits at the top of your arm.
Step 3: Turning on the 24-hour blood pressure monitor
After placing the blood pressure monitor on your upper arm, you need to turn the blood pressure monitor on by yourself. To do this, press and hold the middle green highlighted button until you hear a beep and the following message appears in the display: V2.0. Next, the screen will show the time and battery volume for a few seconds.
Turn on periodic recordings:
When the battery and time are no longer visible in the display and you see a * appear, press the middle green highlighted button twice.
The blood pressure monitor is now turned on. To start the automatic periodic recordings, you should first take a recording to check that you have placed the blood pressure monitor correctly and to experience what it feels like when the band inflates itself.
The band of the blood pressure monitor is automatically inflated. While inflating the band, it is important that you relax your arm well and keep it still. After inflation, the band slowly deflates again. Then the * appears in the display. After this, the periodic measurements will start automatically.
Important information
You should NOT take the blood pressure monitor off after turning it on. In addition, it is absolutely forbidden to shower with the blood pressure monitor.

Step 4: Completing the diary
To get a good idea of the data the blood pressure monitor records and stores, it is important to know your daily activities. You can help by keeping your diary. The diary is a loose A4 sheet included in the box.
- List only those activities that require you to exert yourself, such as cycling, climbing stairs, running errands and household activities such as vacuuming.
- Record taking medications.
- Record the time when you go to sleep and when you get up again.
- Note when you are angry, sad or in pain.
Step 5: Turning off the blood pressure monitor
After the 24-hour admission period is over, you may disconnect the blood pressure monitor.
CAUTION: Before taking off the blood pressure monitor, turn the blood pressure monitor OFF.
Follow the steps below:
Press and hold the center green highlighted button for several seconds until the display shows ON (flashing) and OFF.
Press the red highlighted button once and OFF will flash.
Finally, press the center green highlighted button once. You will then hear three beeps and the screen will turn completely black. The blood pressure monitor is now properly turned off.
Step 6: Returning the blood pressure monitor
To return the blood pressure monitor, place the blood pressure monitor and the completed diary in the black protective cover. Inside the package is a return envelope in which you can return the blood pressure monitor to us after use. The postage for this has already been paid.
Important: The blood pressure monitor is a precious medical device. To prevent the blood pressure monitor from getting lost during return, please send the return envelope with a Track & Trace code. All you have to do is hand in the return envelope at a PostNL point.
You will then receive a Track & Trace code and you should keep it safe.
Please keep this Track & Trace code safe. This is proof for you that you have sent the blood pressure monitor correctly. If you still choose to send the blood pressure monitor back to us without Track & Trace AND the blood pressure monitor gets lost, we are unfortunately forced to charge you the cost of the blood pressure monitor of €795.
FAQ
If you experience tingling in your arm and/or fingers between measurements, it may mean that you have placed the blood pressure monitor strap too tightly around your arm. You can loosen the band between measurements and place it slightly less tightly around your arm.
If you experience the band dropping down during measurements, you can loosen the band between measurements and reposition it slightly tighter at the correct spot (about 2 cm to 3 cm above your elbow) of your upper arm.
No, it is very important to keep the blood pressure monitor dry. The blood pressure monitor cannot stand water and will break down. Therefore, showering with the blood pressure monitor on your upper arm is not possible.
The 24-hour blood pressure measurement is reimbursed by health insurance companies. However, as usual, this is charged against the statutory deductible. Hartis has contracts with some health insurance companies for this form of diagnosis, but not all. If you are insured with a health insurance company with which Hartis has an agreement, you do not have to do anything. Payment is handled automatically. If we do not have an agreement with your health insurance company, we will send you an invoice for the 24-hour blood pressure measurement. You must transfer this amount to us yourself and then declare the invoice to your health insurance company. Depending on your insurance policy, you will be partially or totally reimbursed. This operation is subject to the legal excess.
